12"x16" (30x40 cm) Framed Canvas - "Windless Break"

$94.06

Painted on location at Far Rockaway Beach, NY, in March 2026 at the tail end of a winter swell. " Windless Break" captures the rare stillness between sets that breathless moment when the ocean gathers itself before the last wave of the season breaks. The wave face glows with warm amber and gold, lit from within against a deep charcoal body of water, while white foam erupts at the crest into a cool blue-gray sky. The palette, muted blues, sandy ochres, and slate, carries the melancholy and beauty of a season ending. The composition divides the canvas into elemental layers: churning foam below, the luminous wave at center, the dark shore beyond, and open sky above. It's a painting about thresholds ... between water and land, energy and stillness, summer and fall. Rich impasto texture gives the surface a sculptural presence that photographs can't fully convey. In person, you feel the brushwork.
